New drainage scheme, groundworks and re landscaping at Hertfordshire school

New drainage scheme, groundworks and re landscaping at Hertfordshire school. Schools and colleges have specific requirements for their drainage systems. They must handle high usage levels while also ensuring complete reliability, safety, and hygiene. Additionally, external drains and gullies are crucial in preventing localised flooding in areas like car parks, walkways, and playgrounds. Managing these systems effectively is essential to prevent potential issues.

A Brief Historical Overview

Many schools and colleges have buildings that date back several decades. Vitrified Clay was commonly used for external drainage in Victorian-era sites up until the 1960s. While these systems have generally endured, they are susceptible to joint displacement, fractures, and root intrusion..

We are now working with Hertfordshire County Council and have been working at Flamstead Primary school in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.

The ground has been excavated to install two new bottle gullies for the roof downpipes. Additionally, we have created two more gully runs exceeding 25 meters in length across a tarmaced playground. All slabs have been removed, and we are currently in the process of reinstating them to restore the area to its original appearance.
